Just accept the drug dealing???

This morning, this very interesting post was put up on Nextdoor.com  by Stephen Lark in Watchetts.

Turns out the Watchetts drug dealers are so out-in-the open, that people are easily filming the transactions on their phones. And the police seem to be doing almost nothing. This is outrageous…

So we have one of the top 5 most dangerous roads in all of Surrey on the A-30, top 5 worst crime areas in all of Surrey on the Camberley Town Centre/London Road area, and now this… And what is your Council doing about it??? Call your very own local Watchetts councillors and ask them:

1-Charlotte Morley, Surrey County Council and Surrey Heath Borough Council and Police Liason

2-Dave Lewis: Surrey Heath Borough Council

Surrey Children at risk of serious harm: Ofsted

Ofsted has found that Surrey is putting its children at serious risk: Click here for the article Ofsted finds Surrey seriously lacking

And what is being done about it? Excuse mongering, blame mongering, and finger pointing. With the constant finger pointing you would think they are developing arthritis of the index finger. Instead, they index all the reasons they have to cut the budget. How about they start by selling off the 400 plus properties they have that are doing nothing, as well as the County Hall building that isn’t even in Surrey? What is really most important here?

Thinking Out Of The Box?

The biggest casualty of the strong leader form of government is the process of “thinking” within the governmental delivery system. They take their cues from the political leadership, so when they have no cue, the institutions depart from all thinking and just revert to processing data. When the leaders of Councils can only process data, and not think “out of the box”, you have nothing but an accumulation of useless data…

So let’s take an important piece of recent news, Surrey County Council heavily cutting the budget on dealing with narcotics addictions. There are a lot of numbers bandied about in relation to the causes, the effects, and the consequences. One thing that is undeniable is that a large number of addicts won’t get the treatment require to beat their addictions. The exact number? Who knows… The relevance??? Very little…

What matters is what are we going to do about it? So, we know:
1- that there will be loads of people not getting the treatment they need
2-those people will probably seek to fill that need in socially unacceptable ways, which has a cost both directly and indirectly
3-their problems neither go away nor get better with age

The difficulty of course is that strong leader governments believe they are uniquely capable of dealing with the problems of drug addiction and most others.. And this certainly is not the case… Are there groups/charities/churches out there that can and do do a much better job than the government? Of course, and what are we doing about it? That’s right, next to nothing… And why?

1-local strong leader governments really deeply believe they can fix any and all the problems if they just have enough money
2-success is never measured by quality of service delivered, only by adherence to budgets and the “rules”
3-there is no concern for the wider consequences or implications of decisions made

Tell your Councillors you want something done here…

Look mom, we’re number 4 in all of Surrey!!!

Look mom, Camberley now has the 4th most dangerous area of Surrey, right at the Town Centre!!!  We were featured yesterday by “Get Surrey” for this impressive achievement…

The leadership of Surrey Heath certainly has something to be proud of don’t they???  Aaahhh, probably not… A big part of the shocking increase in crime is all the run down and vacant buildings that criminals can use to ply their drugs and violence. The litter everywhere is part of the clue…

This is a direct consequence of the failure of the “strong leader” management of Surrey Heath. No doubt this week we will be treated to the most rich and spectacular denial of any fault on behalf of the Council by the leader and CEO. These are such fun to watch, and are good cannon fodder for upcoming blogs…

Could the local torys be more out of touch???

When you look at the abysmal conduct of the torys here in Surrey Heath, you have to ask yourself, could you be any more out of touch than this??? You have to assume that these are living breathing humans who manage to put one foot in front of the other every day, but how could they so coldly  and stupidly do what they are doing?

Rocketing Council Tax

Up over 15% in 5 years, how could you possibly justify that?  What do we get for this? You’re right, nothing… Are the roads, schools, policing, etc. 15% better? Are we getting 15% more value? Is it costing them 15% more to do the same things? You’re right, it isn’t and it doesn’t… Oh, and they want another 15% from us next year. Madness???

Spending £178,000,000 on street lights and then turning them off to save £21,000

Yes, that’s right, a very few short years ago, they asked us to fund the replacement of all the street lights in Surrey because the new ones would be so much more energy efficient. So, we spend a fortune to save money and then we have to save £21K by turning the lights off. A stroke of genius, and the results of this genius?

  1. The elderly are scared crazy because they can hear things outside their homes and can’t see what is going on, they are almost all afraid to go out at night, especially as many of them are very light sleepers…
  2. the disabled and sight impaired are imprisoned because they just can’t do anything due to the fact that they just can’t see anything
  3. shift workers are unable to do all their work, as they can’t see when they are going to and getting off work and effectively can’t work
  4. crime is up, although we are unable to judge empirically this for a year after it happens, but you don’t have to be a rocket scientist to understand that you are giving criminals a free hand to do what they like. I am hearing dozens of examples on the campaign trail…
  5. The Council is demonstrating complete contempt for the “little people”

Abysmal state of our roads

No one contests this. But how could that be? A pothole costs £53 to fix and takes 3 minutes to complete. How could it be that these go on and on and on? There is absolutely no excuse for the state of our roads…

Fees at the Rubbish Tips

Here’s another stroke of brilliance on behalf of the Council. So, you tell “white van man” that he can’t go to the tip without paying, and guess how he responds??? Have you been out and about lately? Fly tipping is everywhere, there are now TV shows about it. This wasn’t broken, so the Council “fixed it”…
