Ever wonder why Councils waste so much money on lawyers?

I was pondering this today, as I looked up a couple of local councils on the Solicitors Regulatory Site. Seems like there are disproportionate numbers of lawyers (usually only solicitors) employed by Councils. Is the law that hard to understand? Is what they are doing rubbing up against the concept of “barely legal”? The only organisation with more lawyers per capita is the mafia, and you can see why they need them…

Possibly one of life’s great mysteries, I wonder what else the mafia and Councils have in common? Could it be that most of their people can’t get jobs anywhere else?  Hmmm, have to wonder…

The Lightbulb Finally Went On…

One of the funny things about Politics is that what you are actually doing often doesn’t really dawn on you because you are doing the right thing, or at least you think you are…  And for the right reasons…

Then suddenly you realise that you aren’t doing the right thing, and if you remain in the situation you are in, it doesn’t matter and it is never going to be the right thing. I’m of course referring to the Conservative Party in Surrey. There is no relation between what the Conservative Party, as a Party stands for, and what we see in Surrey.  So, I am out, and it is just a wonderful thing…  A friend asked me yesterday if standing on my own would marginalise me and that I wouldn’t be able to get much done. Good question, but not relevant today…  In fact the inverse is true. Being a member of the Conservative Party here means that you have to adhere to the Party Line on everything: constant tax increases, waste out the ying-yang, incredible inefficiency, and services that don’t work for the people.

Any dough-head could see that what is going on nothing short of shocking incompetence. I am standing and looking for others who have had the light bulb come on, others who realise that things don’t have to be like this, time for a change… And if you want, go to the new site: http://www.camberleywest.com.

The bar of soap is all used up…

The bar of soap is all used up…

What do you do with those bars of soap that are all used up? Good question, because the Conservative party is just like that bar of soap, all used up… So, a few weeks ago the Conservatives at Surrey County Council unanimously voted to have a 15% increase in Council taxes to pay for their inability to control their spending. So this gets a few days to percolate through the local patronage who quite clearly inform them that with this in the background, the result of the upcoming election is that there will be no Conservative party and all the patronage will uncermoniously end…

Then suddenly it all changes and they don’t really need it, and magically a recording pops out on the internet on the front page of the BBC website on Wednesday of the secret meeting with David Hodge’s core group. Amazingly there emerges the detail in the recording of this secret meeting where we hear of the clear evidence of a “secret handshake” deal for the government to give them the difference and avoid a humiliating defeat. And then today he issues a denial that is directly contradicted by the recording. So, clearly the best way to deal with stupidity is to lie…

Lest Hodge and Co. try and hold the franchise on stupidity and lying, he may just be elbowed aside by Phillip Hammond at the top of the Government and Surrey Heath Borough Council at the bottom… So Hammond’s budget boosts the taxes of those taking the risk of being self employed, and then demolishes the single biggest savings exemptions for pensioners. I watched him try and explain this on Sky news this morning, and it was shockingly stupid… How could you just look into the camera with a deadpan face and just bold faced lie to millions of people? Probably a skill that took some time to perfect…  Wow, what a great way to reward those who take the risks of starting their own businesses…

At the Council Executive meeting on Tuesday night (7th March), when confronted with the fact that the Council is borrowing millions of pounds of taxpayer monies (£104 Million so far, at far better terms than taxpayers and taxpayer companies can borrow) to build themselves income generating businesses that compete with taxpayer businesses, they actually tried to legitimise it by saying that it’s actually ok because the lying thieves in Westminster allow it. Supposedly, it’s actually ok, because it all comes from the gilts that the government is printing money for. What is wrong with this picture? Well, why not just buy everything up with Billions of hastily printed funny money? Oh yes, that’s called Communism (at least in America)… I think we can split that last bar of soap to wash out the mouths of Phillip Hammond and the leadership of Surrey Heath. Hodge however will require his own new one…
